In eight years, Cather Elementary has never been able to pay for an author to visit. The only visits came from authors who could come for free, and those are getting harder to find. Your gift can change that. For $700, local picture book author Bruce Arant will spend a half or full day at Cather, showing all 275 students how a book is written, illustrated, and published. It's a perfect fit for this year's focus on creativity, taking risks, and perseverance, and it may be the moment a child decides to write a story of their own.
