Mapping Out Your Estate Plan
You have the ability to make a lasting gift of support to the Millard Public Schools Foundation (MPSF). An excellent way for you to support future generations of students is to leave us a bequest in your will or living trust. If you already have a will, you can always add a short document called a codicil.
Simply notify us of your plans to leave a gift for MPSF in your will or trust or by beneficiary designation.
Many gifts can facilitate tax-efficient transfer of wealth to your heirs while lowering your estate, capital gains and income taxes.
Most gifts cost you nothing now. Every gift makes a difference.
The Three Most Common Ways to Include a Bequest for MPSF
To leave the majority of funds to your loved ones :
name MPSF the beneficiary of a specific amount or percentage of your estate. To leave MPSF what’s left after loved ones are provided for:
use a residuary bequest. To leave your estate to family and friends :
unless you outlive one of your beneficiaries, use a contingent bequest. This is often used by husbands and wives who stipulate that if the other spouse is not living, the bequest specified for that spouse will go to MPSF.
Benefits
A bequest is generally a revocable gift, which means it can be changed or modified at any time. You can choose to designate that a bequest be used for a general or specific purpose so you have the peace of mind knowing that your gift will be used as intended. Bequests are exempt from federal estate taxes. If you have a taxable estate, the estate tax charitable deduction may offset or eliminate estate taxes, resulting in a larger inheritance for your heirs.
If you are considering a bequest but would like to ensure that your bequest will be used for a specific purpose, please let us know. We would be happy to work with you and your attorney to help you identify ways to give and meet your charitable objectives. We will also work with you and your attorney to craft language to accomplish your goals.
The Millard Public Schools Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law and 100% go directly to the intended program, project or scholarship. No administrative fees are deducted from any donation.
